Well, there goes this news cycle.

So, Michael Jackson died. It makes me feel kind of old.

But I hope this doesn't keep us from talking about more important things.

I felt old when my friend had to leave work because cancer was kicking her ass and L'Ailee's friend had to leave work because his very early-onset Alzheimer's is flaring up. This isn't helping, no. There are so many deaths and so many lives that have touched others. I was more broken up over Dr. Jerri Nielsen FitzGerald, the doctor who found and treated her own cancer in an Antarctic base. (It came back.) But most people don't touch as many childhoods as did Michael Jackson; most people don't leave a bit of their legacy in virtually every stack of CDs in the world.

We'll talk of more important things, don't worry.

I just get the feeling this is going to get very icky very fast. I'm dreading the custody battle and the funeral and the death photos and the drug allegations and whatever else grodie stuff is going to be clogging the airwaves for the next few months.

I'm afraid this is going to be the Anna Nichole Smith deathfest plus a thousand.
