Um, yeah, holy crap.

Holy shit. Kevin Boyar was in my Russian class.
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police say a tipster told them a student was carrying a gun on the University of New Mexico campus and had spoken of the Virginia Tech and Columbine shootings.

Kevin Boyar, 19, had admitted to carrying the gun onto campus, according to a criminal complaint, but had claimed the he didn't know guns aren't allowed at UNM.
I'm kind of torn, not knowing him outside of class that well. I feel like either a nice kid did a stupid thing that he didn't mean anything scary by, or maybe a kid with problems was taken into custody thereby averting a disaster.

Who knows. Either way...holy crap.

I want you to know that I feel very much the same way, conflicted. I would never think he would do that especially since I had seen him outside of class AND I had seen his guns (not on campus). But, I hate to think that I would just be wrong. It would be the first time that I've ever truly misjudged someone's character.

So maybe he was studying the nazi literature and posters to better understand 20th century russian geo-politics?

Also Bfp's blog is sorta back up but you can't get to the posts after april 8th, but you probably already know that or it's not interesting. Probably the second one.

RM: Yeah, I didn't know that. I've been really busy, it's finals week. Why did you think I wouldn't find that interesting?

Also, yeah, I'm really torn about Kevin. I really, really think he was just doing something stupid, probably brought his AK-47 to his dorm room to show off in front of his friends and that's all, but then again...who knows. It's easy to brush off something like that when you weren't also in a 10 person class with the guy.

well it's not that fascinating, either she's doing it herself or she's gotten someone else to do it for her., and she doesn't want to feed into all the little trolls who're trying to score hits with whole elephantsealpress thing.

Well the guns I could understand (especially as they don't seem to have been on campus, and AKs are legal to own). The making comments about the VT shooting or columbine in relation to having the guns I could understand - depending on what the statements were exactly. Wonder who mentioned the VT/columbine statements to the news really, police throwing things out to justify shit, or nosey neighbours or what exactly?

To be fair he doesn't seem to have actually done anything really, just "guy owns guns, guns may, possibly, have at one point been on campus, guy is possibly a bit of a nazi" it's not really all that.

It's actually a crime to have your guns on the campus, and they were actually in his dorm room, he's admitted to keeping them there, just not at the time the police searched it.

And again, no, rationally, I don't think he was capable of planning a killing spree. But that's what they always say, after the fact, isn't it? I don't really know.
